Turning every sale into an enrolment

A safety training provider needed purchases from Shopify and its direct website to enter one automated enrolment and course-delivery pipeline. SDTC Digital connected commerce, account creation, SCORM delivery, certification, team management, and repeat sales.

Project overview

Safety First sells self-paced, certificate-bearing courses to individuals and companies. Purchases came through Shopify and direct website checkout, but account creation, enrolment, course access, progress tracking, and certification still needed to work as one process.

SDTC Digital built a shared enrolment pipeline for both channels. It recognises returning customers, creates accounts when needed, assigns courses in SCORM Cloud, synchronises progress, and issues certificates automatically.

Company buyers can manage their own teams, while recommendations and completion discounts support repeat purchases. Two funded extensions added white-labelled client platforms and domain-based subscription access for company employees.

The challenges

  1. 01Purchases from two separate channels needed to enter one enrolment process.
  2. 02Customer accounts, course access, and confirmation emails required automatic provisioning.
  3. 03Returning customers needed one account regardless of where they purchased.
  4. 04Company buyers needed to manage team members without relying on Safety First administrators.
  5. 05Existing webhook and login vulnerabilities required correction before launch.
  6. 06Course completion needed to create a clear opportunity for relevant repeat purchases.

Project goals

The safety training provider needed a platform that could:

  • Connect Shopify and direct website sales to one order-processing pipeline.
  • Automate account creation, enrolment, course access, and certification.
  • Give learners one account and course library across both channels.
  • Allow company administrators to manage team members and purchased seats.
  • Strengthen webhook, login, and password-setup security.
  • Support repeat sales, white-labelling, and subscription-based company access.

What we built

SDTC Digital developed an automated training-commerce platform connecting purchases, learners, company teams, course delivery, certification, and repeat sales.

01

Unified sales and enrolment

Shopify and Stripe purchases automatically create accounts, process orders, and assign courses through one enrolment workflow.

02

Learner experience and certification

Learners access SCORM courses, track progress, and download certificates automatically after completing their training.

03

Team and subscription management

Company administrators manage members, while subscribers request seats using verified work-email domains and one-time codes.

04

Pricing and repeat sales

Quantity discounts, course recommendations, and completion offers encourage customers to purchase additional training.

05

Administration and white-labelling

A unified dashboard manages orders, retries failures, and delivers branded course platforms with isolated certificates.

They are very responsive and very open to ideas and feedback. When I have run out of ideas or don't know how to get past a roadblock, they have been very good with coming up with solutions.

The User Journey

01

Purchase the course

The customer buys through Shopify or completes a direct Stripe checkout.

02

Create or match the account

The platform recognises the customer by email or creates a new learner account.

03

Provision course access

The learner is enrolled locally and in SCORM Cloud without administrator involvement.

04

Complete the training

Progress synchronises automatically, and a certificate becomes available after completion.

05

Continue learning

The learner receives relevant course recommendations and a personalised completion discount.

The Thinking Behind the Platform

  1. 01One enrolment pipeline: Sent Shopify and direct purchases through the same processing path.
  2. 02Find-or-create accounts: Matched customers by email to prevent duplicate learner profiles.
  3. 03Unattended provisioning: Automated account creation, course assignment, and confirmation.
  4. 04Self-managed teams: Gave company administrators control of members, seats, and enrolments.
  5. 05Completion-led growth: Triggered recommendations and discounts when learner intent was highest.
  6. 06Security hardening: Added webhook authentication, redirect validation, and endpoint rate limiting.

Testing and Delivery

31 of 31

Functional requirements verified against the live codebase across commerce, enrolment, course delivery, team management, and administration.

311 of 311

Automated tests passing across user provisioning, enrolment, discount logic, permissions, integrations, and security controls.

2 rounds

Security hardening addressing webhook authentication, login redirects, and rate limiting across critical endpoints.

Approximately 95%

Platform completion at pre-launch review, with remaining work focused on operational cutover and two post-MVP extensions covering white-labelling and company subscription seats.

Outcomes and Business Impact

  • Bookings complete end to end without a human on the line, across both phone and chat. The booking is never silently lost, even when the dispatch system has an issue.
  • Duplicate or simultaneous booking attempts produce exactly one reservation, every time, closing off a failure mode that costs a car service real money and real trust.
  • The multi-tenant isolation suite came back clean: zero cross-tenant data leaks across all 36 scenarios tested.
  • Of the 2,740+ test cases built across all three phases, Phase 1's executed run came back at 87.85%, a measured result, not a target.
  • New operator companies can go from signup to a live, bookable bot in under fifteen minutes, no engineering involved.
  • Missed-call reduction, booking-volume increase, and time saved are not yet measured; the recommendation is to capture these from the client post-launch rather than estimate them.

Selling training across multiple channels?

The sale is only the beginning. Account creation, enrolment, delivery, certification, team access, and repeat purchases need to work as one dependable process.
